How to use Skype Backgrounds

Following the addition of Background Effects to Teams, Microsoft have enabled the feature for their other video calling software Skype. At the time of writing, it is easier to add your own background to Skype than it is in Teams. Here’s how.

Before a call

1. Click “Start call” or “Meet Now” to go to the video preview screen
2. Click “Choose background effect”
3. In the video settings window, click “Add Image”
4. Locate and select the image you want to add
5. Once selected, click “Open”
6. Your image will now appear as your background
7. Click “Start call” to continue to your call

During a call

1. Click […]/More in the bottom right corner of the screen
2. In the menu, click “Choose background effect”
3. Follow steps 3-6 above to add your background
